Jesse Porter

Bio

Jesse Porter serves as the Wide Receivers Coach at Bullitt East, where he is also a science teacher. A Bullitt East alumnus, Porter played running back and defensive back for the Chargers under Head Coach Darrell Vincent before continuing his education at Eastern Kentucky University and the University of Louisville.

Porter began his coaching career at Jeffersontown High School in 2017, spending two seasons with the Chargers before coaching at Oldham County in 2019. He returned to the Bullitt East community in 2020, serving as an assistant coach and offensive coordinator for the East Chargers middle school program for two seasons and helping develop future players for the high school program.

In 2022, Porter joined the Bullitt East High School staff and contributed on both sides of the football, coaching quarterbacks and defensive backs. His quarterback room was led by Travis Egan, who helped guide Bullitt East to a 14-1 record and the first Class 6A State Championship in school history. Egan finished the season with 2,934 passing yards and 35 touchdowns and was named the 2022-23 Gatorade Kentucky Football Player of the Year.

Porter also helped develop a young defensive-back group that became an important part of the Chargers’ championship defense. His ability to contribute on both sides of the ball made him a valuable part of a staff that completed the most successful season in Bullitt East football history.

In 2023, Porter remained an important member of the varsity staff as Bullitt East followed its championship season with a 9-3 record and another trip to the second round of the Class 6A playoffs. His versatility and experience continued to allow him to contribute to the development of players throughout the program.

Porter moved to wide receivers in 2024 and quickly helped produce one of Class 6A’s more productive individual receivers. Senior Caden Bostock finished with 30 receptions for 533 yards and nine touchdowns, ranking 17th in Class 6A in receiving yards per game. Bostock went on to continue his football career at Centre College.

In 2025, Porter continued leading the wide receiver room as Bullitt East finished 7-5 and advanced to the second round of the Class 6A playoffs. Evan Butler emerged as the Chargers’ leading receiver, finishing the season with 40 receptions for 477 yards and four touchdowns as a junior.

Throughout his time at Bullitt East, Porter has demonstrated the ability to teach and develop players across multiple positions and age levels. From helping develop future Chargers at the middle-school level, to coaching both quarterbacks and defensive backs during a state championship season, to now leading the varsity wide receivers, Porter has played an important role in the continued development of the Bullitt East program.
